Khari Sharif (also spelled “Khari Shareef”) is an agriculture area located at a distance of eight kilometers from the city of Mirpur in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. This area is known for the housing of Sufi saints known as Peer-e-Shah Ghazi (Qalandar Damriyan Wali Sarkar) and Mian Muhammad Bakhsh. Generally speaking, Alaqa-e-Khari (transformation in English: Area of Khari) refers to the lush plains of Khari which exist among the hills of Mirpur and River Jehlum. The place, act as an immense seat of wisdom for the students of Islam. Dervish (disciples) of the Saint can be seen in all over the Pakistan especially in Azad Kashmir.

Khari consists of some eighty small and large villages and one those villages is known as Khari Sharif. Basically, Khari Sharif refers to the shrine of Mian Muhammad Bakhsh, a famous Sufi Saint. He is well known for writing the famous tale of Saiful Malook. The tail is about a prince “Shehzada Saiful Malook” who fell in love with a fairy called “Badi-U-Jamal” who he saw in a dream. The story chronicles his journey in search of the fairy and spiritual lessons he learns of the way.
